Adding a second floor in an existing pole building more than one pole post frame building owner has an idea of adding a second floor inside their existing building. Another option is adding an additional floor system between the ground floor and roof truss to create a two story pole building. However adding a second floor to your pole barn is a more involved type of addition for your pole barn. I have a 30x40 pole barn with lots of wasted vertical space.

Creating any raised platform requires sturdy support. For a 4 floor with minimal prep work you can figure 2 25 3 00 per square foot. This apparently simple proposition has no simplicity involved. Any ideas input would be appreciated.

I always recommend using reinforcing in all pole barn floors. This can be done be adding a steep pitch attic roof truss or gambrel frame attic roof truss. A second floor in your pole barn will put additional stress on the wall columns.
